Marcus Kittrell

Carwash of Year award to Tom Fuller owner of Team Car Wash

UNION, NJ — The Car Wash Operators of New Jersey (CWONJ) hosted Mammoth Holdings’ and International Carwash Association (ICA) President Marcus Kittrell at its Fall Membership Meeting, November 6, at Suburban Golf Club. A group of 80 were able to enjoy hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Micrologic and an extensive buffet before the business meeting and speaker.
“It felt great to participate in such a highly-attended meeting,” said CWONJ Vice President Dan Saidel. “Watching 80 carwash professionals share stories about the amazing wash weather we have been enjoying the past two months made the reception incredibly entertaining,” added Saidel.

Guest speaker Kittrell, who will end his term as ICA president in January, began his carwashing career at 16. Four decades later he is a prominent industry leader, past president of the Southeastern Car Wash Association (SCWA) and current ICA president.

Kittrell is a partner at Mammoth Holdings, a premier carwash platform headquartered in Dallas, TX, with 149 conveyor carwashes under a number of brands and 100 in the pipeline, where he has expanded the Marc-1 Carwash/Mammoth brands since 2018. He said his career highlights include shifting to a stand-alone express model carwash in 2002 and learning valuable lessons about business.

He noted that despite the influx of private equity (PE) in the industry over the last five years, the operator who does a great job and is hands on will always be successful.

“Marcus is a wonderfully humble carwash veteran,” added Saidel. “He’s quick to share credit with others who have helped him bring many innovative practices to our industry. He is incredibly relatable enabling him to make connections with our youngest wash leaders and most experienced operators.”

Based on the strong audience participation, Kittrell struck a cord with attendees who wanted to learn more about his journey and experiences with PE. “Marcus was fabulous,” said Past CWONJ President Doug Rieck. “You couldn’t have asked for a better speaker who was more than willing to share the good and bad of his carwash journey. He was inspiring to our attendees.”
Carwash of the Year Award

During the business portion of the meeting Vice President Saidel presented Tom Fuller, owner of Team Car Wash, with the 2024 CWONJ Car Wash of the Year Award. This award is bestowed to an operator whose location(s) demonstrate a high quality of service, aesthetics and financial viability. The recipient must be a CWONJ member.

Fuller, who has only been washing cars since 2019, currently has 12 sites in New Jersey. He spent 29 years on Wall Street before setting his sights on creating a carwash environment that he would be proud to bring his family to, and one that took a “Team” approach to customer service and throughput. His initial goal was to own 8-10 washes in his first two years as an operator, and that was a goal he met. Fuller is currently a CWONJ board member and will begin a term on the International Carwash Association (ICA) Board of Directors in January.
